Over 6 million individuals have participated in STOP THE BLEED® training, and SPW is now proudly part of this impactful group! The Shavano Park Police Department hosted a comprehensive 90-minute training session, which was led by Assistant Chief Dennis Kelley. This training program is part of a national effort designed to educate the public on how to respond effectively to bleeding emergencies, which can occur in various situations, from accidents to natural disasters.
The training session was structured to include both an informative lecture and engaging practical exercises, ensuring that participants not only learned the theoretical aspects of bleeding control but also had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in hands-on scenarios.
Attendees participated in practical exercises that focused on the use of essential tools such as tourniquets and hemostatic dressings. These practical components allowed participants to gain confidence and proficiency in applying these life-saving techniques.
This vital training was made available to all Shavano Park residents, reflecting the community's commitment to preparedness and safety. By empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to emergencies, the Shavano Park Police Department is fostering a culture of readiness and resilience.
A big thank you to Assistant Chief Dennis Kelley and Mary Young for arranging this enlightening presentation.
