Master Gardner, Anna Vogler, gave SPW a presentation entitled Surviving the Summer Heat: Creating a Resilient Landscape. Gardners in south Texas face several challenges including extreme high and low temperatures, unreliable rainfall, and less than optimal soil. Anna provided us with several recommendations to help combat these issues.
We learned about composting, mulching, proper watering techniques, and the importance of utilizing native or well-adapted plants.
We are so fortunate to have access to such amazing resources to help us beautify our gardens while minimizing our impact on the environment. You can review the notes from Anna's presentation by clicking on the download link at the bottom of this post.
A big thanks to Mary Young for arranging this fun and educational event!
