This year's monarch butterflies themed Arbor/Earth Day celebration attracted record crowds. Shavano Park Women set up a butterfly-themed selfie booth that was a big hit with the attendees.

Our families enjoyed a variety of activities, such as educational booths, crafts for kids, face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, balloon artists, caricatures, and giveaways of trees and plants. They also had the chance to explore the incredible Flutter House, featuring a 20-foot walk with over 350 live butterflies! Additionally, a beekeeper from Shavano Park brought a hive to teach us about bees and beekeeping.

Residents could drop off paper for shredding and e-waste for recycling. Compost was also available for citizens to take home.

Organizing one of these events requires extensive planning. Several SPW members generously volunteered their time to be part of the planning committee. Additionally, we had a team that came to set up and take down the SPW booth the day of the event. We want to express our deep gratitude for all your hard work. Finally, a special thanks goes to our Vice President, Sandy Cooley, for coordinating with our City Secretary, Kristen Hetzel, on this event, and to all our volunteers who made this event memorable for everyone who attended.
