Our first event of 2022 was a behind the scenes tour of the Bexar Metro 9-1-1 Network center. From the moment we entered the security gate to departure, we were impressed with their facility, their professionalism and hospitality.

It was great to finally find out what was in that big “secret” building. It was interesting to learn about the 9-1-1 call process and the evolution and advancements made over the years. We now have a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes, giving us a greater sense of confidence in getting help when needed.

A special thanks to Bill Buchholtz for welcoming and giving us an overview of the creation and operation of this incredible facility. Bill has certainly built a legacy that will forever have a positive effect on life-saving emergency communication in Bexar County and throughout the state of Texas. His organization sets the standard for emergency communications.

The Quarry Run Facility is one of the most incredible facilities many of us had ever seen. It is obvious that lot of thought and consideration went into its design, construction, and operation. It is comforting to know that within this complex and state of the art facility there is a dedicated team of professionals working around the clock to order to keep our community safe.

Following the tour, we gathered at the Scuzzi’s Italian Restaurant on 1604 for a great meal and quality time to visit with each other. The meal and the service were wonderful.

The Shavano Park Women extended our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Brett Schneider, Eddie Taylor, and Robert Mosher for an exciting and educational tour of theQuarry Run Facility and 9-1-1 Call Center.”
