SPW was out in force for our city's annual Winter Holiday Event. Once again our poinsettia sale was a huge success. Shavano Park Women provided an array of crafts for the children to create and were delighted to see so many youngsters lined up to take part in this activity. The kiddos enjoyed making Santa, reindeer, and snowmen foam ornaments, they decorated tin cans with ‘jewels’ and colored holiday themed designs.
The Grinch came to see us again this year, complete with police escort which kept a close eye on him as he posed for pictures with kids, parents and pets. While waiting to take a picture with Santa, folks enjoyed beautiful music from a special string ensemble who entertained on the patio near Saint Nick.
This outstanding family-friendly event had lots of activities including: a cookie decorating contest, and face painting. Children and adults enjoyed playing in the snow. Additional entertainment was provided by Blattman cheerleaders and choir. The culmination of the event was the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Our city really knows how to throw a party! Thank you to everyone who gave their time to make this a special day for all!
